Urban contemporary is a music radio format. The term was coined by the late New York DJ Frankie Crocker in the mid 1970s.

Bench Mark - Augmented Telematic Urban Furniture / ¿Qué serà?

The act of taking a seat here is tantamount to occupying a place at another location. Chatting with a stranger on a park bench is an experience that is part of everyday life. This project offers precisely such an opportunity to get into a conversation—except that the person you talk to is a kilometer away, seated on an identical, virtually enhanced park bench.
During the Ars Electronica Festival, three such benches interconnected via the internet will be set up: one in the Ars Electronica Quarter on the banks of the Danube; one in the Brucknerhaus near the Festival Info Desk; and one on the roof of the OK Center for Contemporary Art in the so-called
Ars Lounge.
